It’s name may imply a jazz band amidst the aroma of pizza but what you'll discover is a marriage of scrumptious Italian cuisine, electrifying jazz performances, and layers of stories etched in each corner.
Wait, there's more! Nestled in the curiosities of World Trade Centre Mall lies Catch Rooftop Lounge, an authentic 1920s-inspired bar. This splendid speakeasy fills the air with a melange of cigars, mint, and a concoction of exotic cocktails, swiftly transporting you back in time!
Venture into the Underground
A true nightlife connoisseur never hesitates to venture underground where some hidden treasures reside. The underground scene in Abu Dhabi is as beaming as the starry Arabian nightscape. The Captain’s Arms in Le Meridien is one of those locales where you descend into a labyrinth of British charm, offering a variety of beers and an intimate atmosphere, perfect for both friendly get-togethers and solo musings.
Emerging from the underground, you step into the realm of the rooftop bars with breathtaking views of the city. Asia de Cuba on the Corniche offers a paradisaical blend of vivacious atmosphere, intoxicating sips and piquant Asian-Latin delicacies.
Then comes Ray's Bar, gracing the 62nd floor of Jumeirah at Etihad Towers. Its aura of elegance combined with panoramic city and ocean views transforms night into an ethereal masterpiece. The only thing left to top off this sight is a glass of their signature cocktail.
Gems Hidden in Plain Sight
Hidden bars in Abu Dhabi are a bit like Arabian djinns — some hiding in plain sight, others buried under layers of illusion. Porters English Pub in Grand Millennium Al Wahda masks itself under the garb of a traditional English public house but houses an undiscovered treasure of live music, lip-smacking food, and curated brews.
How about some liquid tales? If that sounds intriguing, head straight to Impressions located atop Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa. This minimalist rooftop bar hosts an enticing array of concoctions, perfect for a relaxed evening under a blanket of twinkling stars.
The Dance of Flavours
The nightlife in Abu Dhabi is as much about cocktails as it is about dancing with flavours. After all, quality food never fails to get the party going. Remember my 'research' I mentioned earlier? I recall a night at Velocity - a sports bar at Marriott Downtown. Not only did they have an impressive selection of international beers but they served knock-your-socks-off spicy wings. I was left with my mouth on fire and my heart desiring more of this delicious torture.
For those with a sweet tooth, I must summon the memory of crème brûlée at Belgian Café in InterContinental. It was a heavenly medley which had me swooning. Until today, I declare it to be among my top five desserts ever sampled.
